Texas Holdem no limit game and Two Pair

Article by Shweta DubeyR | Nov-15-2011

In the game of no limit Texas Holdem poker, if one pair seems to be good, then the two pair would be regarded as the better one. This is true in some way, but in another way, the two pair could be a bit worse that the earlier one as there is a possibility that the two pair could lead you to trouble more. In a limit holdem game, a flop giving you a two pair could be an interesting move to a player. In most of the cases, you continue betting in the game if your opponents indicate you somehow that they are having a very strong hand against you. Then, you may choose for either a call or a fold if you are obviously beating by the situation. Unfortunately in the game of no limit Texas holdem, you realize it at the end that that your two pair is in trouble and now, it is too late to settle it.

However, you can go broke with two pair to an end number of times in the game of no limit Texas holdem that would either be 'on the flop' or 'after the flop'.

On the flop

  • An opponent is free to flop a set when there is AK with you and 33 with your opponent and when the flop comes to be AK3.
  • An opponent is free to flop a straight when you hold AK and there is JT with your opponent and the flop comes to be AKQ.
  • Top two can be flopped by your opponent while you are flopping top and bottom or the bottom two. You are holding K9 or Q9, and there is KQ with your opponent where the flop comes to be KQ9.

After the flop

  • A straight or flush is made by an opponent either on the turn or the river. There is 87 with you and 9T with your opponent, the flop comes to be 87A with turn J.
  • A running pair may be received by an opponent having a higher pair on the board when you have K9 and there is AA with your opponent, the flop comes to be K93, turn will be 5 and river will be 5.
  • A higher two pair will be made by an opponent or a set on the river or turn. There is J9 with you, KK or KJ with your opponent and the flop comes to be as J95 and the turn is a K.

All the above reasons suggest why it is difficult for playing the two pair in the Texas holdem game quite aggressively. However, it is played quite cautiously. Players are also advised to play is by giving full attention to the board. Always try to judge your opponent with making correct move in the game. Better would be to take tips from the professionals and experienced players time to time to improve your game of Texas holdem.
